Welcome to Care For Her

We are Care For Her, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Berkeley, California that advocates for menstrual equity through the distribution of menstrual hygiene kits to women in need as well as educating communities about menstrual health through accessible digital resources. We are building an equitable future for all women who are affected by the lack of access to essential menstrual care.

Our Story
Throughout history, women’s health has been largely overlooked. According to Period.org, nearly 1 in 4 students and 1 in 3 teens struggle to afford menstrual products in the U.S. Our mission is to create a world in which no woman lacks access to basic necessities.
California law (AB 367) mandates that public schools must regularly provide period products in girls’ restrooms, however, many schools across the Bay Area fail to comply with this policy. Period poverty is silently affecting thousands, just in our local community.
Founders Abby and Lena started Care For Her in order to combat these everyday hardships and encourage every person to feel secure and confident during their menstrual cycles.

Monthly Care Cycle
Every month, we donate a large batch of menstrual hygiene kits to a local shelter and a local school district. This allows us to reach larger communities and expand distribution efforts.

Care on Demand
Our care kit ordering system allows for families and individuals in need to order menstrual care kits upon request. This allows us to reach individuals who struggle with lack of access to essential products.
Our Programs

Our virtual education and advocacy program fights the stigma around menstruation, educating communities so people that menstrate feel aware and comfortable in their bodies.

Who We Serve
our mission
We serve women in communities that may lack proper access to menstrual products and education. Currently, we serve women in the California Bay Area, which includes major cities like Berkeley, San Francisco, Richmond, Oakland, San Jose, and most cities within a 50-mile radius to Berkeley. We have three programs, two in which we distribute menstrual hygiene kits to local shelters, schools, families, and individuals. Our third program entails a more advocacy-centered approach where we educate our community about menstrual health.
